Three Kinds of Friends

So, I had written this post a couple of days ago regarding brokenness. And I said how I was praying for it and all that. And, part of me is. But, I think part of me is not ready to go there. Part of the post talked about the honesty of brokenness and I wasn't sure I was being honest about the brokenness I talked about. Thank you to those who commented on it. I may re-post it in the future when I know I can be completely honest about it.

In ALL honesty, this is what I've realized the last few days. I have three kinds of friends.

-There are the friends that when you're talking on the phone to them you would never even think about going to the bathroom because it just wouldn't seem right.

-There are the kinds of friends that you'd go to the bathroom while you're talking to them on the phone, but you wouldn't tell them- unless they asked what that noise was in the background.

-But, THEN.....THEN.....there are the friends who when you are talking on the phone to them you can just say, "I'm totally pee-ing, by the way." And they just say, "Oh- well.....anyways....as I was saying...." And it doesn't phase them one bit.

I am appreciating more and more the third kind of friend.

I like to scratch my butt when I talk to you on the phone.

Is there a 4th kind that you tell when you're pooping? I'm not saying that's ever happened when we were on the phone. I was just wondering.

My 6 year old is obviously a little more blog savvy than I realized, seeing as how comments from me are now mysteriously labeled as being from Aidyn and Delaney.

So totally normal here - but I won't flush until I'm off the phone! LOL!

When a girls gotta pee... (In fact I have nursed children while peeing - a matter of urgency).

I read the post you deleted and felt it was honest and lovely. But I have also deleted posts that I have felt may not be best for the whole world to read.

I envy people who can write to the world with reckless freedom. I'm not among them.

Erin,

Hey I just caught up on your blog and I could really write a novel in response to everything you post about! But, I wanted to tell you how thrilled I am that you are moving to Denver. First, b/c I know a great church. Lakewood c of c. And I couldn't agree more with your feelings on our heritage, but this church is different. We went there for a year and severely miss it. It is AWESOME. Very laid back, people don't get hung up on the little stuff. There are people from all walks of life and the preacher just ROCKS. You have to promise me you'll visit. Make sure Reg is preaching and go to the Fresh bread class before service. Reason number two I'm glad you're moving there is we are moving there too! Our plan is to be back up there in about 2-4 years b/c it is also in between our families and we love the area and Lakewood. So....email me if you want to talk more about the church and anything else really! lauramstaples@gmail.com
Take care and thanks for sharing such honesty on your blog!!

I so agree with you on the friends thing. I LOVE that 3rd kind of friend and I have a couple of them that I can really count on and trust, and I wouldn't trade them for anything!

I loved your post that you deleted. I never commented. I think it is because it stirred emotions in me that were a bit raw, and there was no way that I could put two words together to make any reasonable sense. I am a bit envious that you can speak so openly.

Love you girl!
