A song about how hard marriage can be.
Sometimes, in the middle of a rough patch in our marriage (because they happen), I wonder what on earth we are doing and why we thought getting married and having babies was a good idea. My friend, Sue, once said, "Well, it may not be an easy road, but at least you're on the road."
We get to the other side of the rough patch and I think, "Woohoo! We made it!" And, my appreciation for my husband and the sanctity of marriage increases.
This is kind of a sad song. It's deeply personal. I hope it will encourage you, even in the midst of stormy waters, to tough it out. Marriage is work- lots of work. And sometimes, all you can say is that you're on the road, even if it's not pretty.

Thank you for this, Erin. It made me cry. By the way, is there a reason you didn't call the song "This Road"? That's the phrase that got stuck in my head after I heard it. Beautiful. And it was good to hear your voice again too.
I'm just catching up on your last several posts. First, let me say, you have a beautiful voice! I love the songs you have shared. I wanted to pick a favorite, but they each speak to me in a different way. More, please, I want to hear more!
Erin, your voice was so good to hear and your song is incredible. Trust me when I say you are on the right road, as the other road is not a pretty one. Satan throws many things in our paths both as a wife and as a parent. Somehow, someway you have to work together to smooth out the road, trust me I didn't the first time and so the second time is even harder but together the pavement is much more even. Miss you guys and keep up the singing and posting it. You know that Jack and I are just a phone call or an email away. Love you guys. Gerri/Jack
I love how honest you are in your song-writing. I could listen to you and learn from you every day. Miss you :)
Erin!! Just had a few minutes to myself this afternoon and decided to get caught up on your blog. I LOVE this song!! The words are powerful and true and, as always, I love hearing YOUR voice sing them. Miss you too much!!!
